| Summary: |
This Basic Math, Pre Algebra lesson begins with the definition of a closed figure, a polygon and linear measure. We find the formulas for the perimeter of a triangle, polygon, rectangle, regular polygon, square and the circumference (perimeter) of a circle. Examples are also done with the perimeter of composite figures. The second part of this lesson deals with area. It begins with the definition of area and important quadrilaterals. We find the formula for the area of a rectangle, square, parallelogram, rhombus, trapezoid, triangle, regular polygon, circle and composite figures.
After this lesson, you will be able to:
- define a closed figure
- find the perimeter of a triangle, polygon, rectangle, regular polygon, square, composite figure
- find the circumference of a circle
- define area and important quadrilaterals
- find the area of triangles, rectangles, squares, parallelograms, rhombuses, trapezoids, regular polygons, circles and composite figures
- find an apothem
